Seattle, WA – December 19, 2024
A car slid off a side road and into a lake near Seattle this afternoon in a single-vehicle accident. Deputies from the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) were the only responders to the scene, as no paramedics or Department of Transportation (DOT) crews were dispatched.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and self-extricated. A bystander assisted him until deputies arrived. Due to icy water and being in a state of shock, the driver did not report any serious injuries and declined further medical attention.

It reportedly lost control on a sharp bend near the lake, likely because of icy road conditions following recent snowfall. The side road, untreated for snow and ice, has been hazardous for local drivers in the current weather.
Deputies secured the area and arranged to have the vehicle towed from the lake. There were no immediate reports of environmental concerns related to the crash. The quiet side road, used very little, was unaffected by the traffic, but authorities reminded drivers to use caution on non-treated routes during winter conditions.
