What started as a routine traffic stop by the Seattle Police Department turned into an arrest of a man accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer late Thursday night. The incident, which unfolded with no incidents, took place when the SPD stopped a car and grew suspicious rather quickly about the driver's conduct and identification.

According to SPD officials, the suspect was discovered impersonating a law enforcement officer. The WSP was notified and one responding WSP unit arrived in support to take the man into custody. Investigators are not yet releasing details of what initially led SPD officers to stop the suspect or how the impersonation attempt was uncovered during that stop.

The incident is under investigation, and officials are scrutinizing all possible evidence that may link to the case, whether the suspect attempted to use his assumed identity in other incidents. Additional information will be made available during the upcoming days, including the naming of the suspect and court information.
